SummaryEdit

Martin crosses paths with a young man who has a history with his deceased wife, Sarah. A couple managing an online instrument repair business work with an Iraqi heavy metal band that has a teenage follower who is looking to share his comedic talent with an American soldier (guest star Sprague Grayden) in Baghdad. But the soldier has troubles of her own when her convoy is ambushed, forcing her to hide in the Iraqi desert.

PlotEdit

Martin receives the painful but not unexpected news that Sarah's remains will never be recovered from the Twin Towers site. He confides in Clea that he's worried about taking Jake to visit the grave, but she assures him that it would be good for Jake to see him mourning for his late wife.

Later, while Martin and Jake visit Sarah's grave marker, they come across a young man named Bobby Aresa who is also visiting her grave site. Martin has never met Bobby before and has never heard his name, despite his mentioning that he was a friend of Sarah's. He seems reluctant to provide any more information. Martin has to leave abruptly to chase after Jake, who lets go of his red kite in the middle of the cemetary. Jake continues wandering the city, eventually leading his father to Bobby's apartment. Bobby is not happy to see Martin, but does tell him of his relationship to Sarah, some of it which Martin may not want to hear, but which will ultimately lead him to a precious memento.

Meanwhile, Randall Meade , the fireman with the winning lottery ticket that Jake stole weeks ago, returns to his hometown of Lynchburg, Virginia, looking for answers to his life. He receives a direct sign that those answers may be found at a church undergoing renovations. The church leader is mysteriously tied to an injured soldier in Iraq, who has befriended the Iraqi teen aspiring to become the next Chris Rock, who is friends with metal rockers struggling to get an audience, who apply for help from a former band roadie and so-called amplifier expert using the moniker King Roadie. All of them tie back to Jake's knotted kite strings.
